How to Prepare a Homemade Scalp Scrub

How to Prepare a Homemade Scalp ScrubApart from shampooing and conditioning your hair, you have to take good care of the scalp as well. A homemade exfoliating scalp scrub is exactly what you need, with the main ingredient being apple cider vinegar.

Recipe of apple cider vinegar scalp scrub (homemade)

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of ground sea salt to make it finer
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon Manuka honey
  • 15 drops of any essential oil
  • Few drops of lemon juice (optional)

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Wet your hair and massage the scrub gently into the scalp – use a tablespoon sized amount (store the remaining mixture in an airtight container).

Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.

What are the benefits of a homemade salt scrub for scalp?

Soothes the scalp

A DIY scalp scrub for dry scalp has a calming sensation. It soothes irritated, itchy, and scaly scalps. It also prevents build-up of dead skin cells and residue from other products, by sloughing off those nasty flakes.

Makes hair healthier

Exfoliation stimulates the scalp, supports hair growth, and improves scalp health.

Hair becomes smooth and shiny

Exposing your hair to heat and other chemicals can damage its pH and deteriorate quality over time. The scalp helps to repair damage to cuticles, reduce split ends, and prevent breakage and frizz. Your tresses become soft and lustrous!

How often should scalp exfoliation (DIY) be done?

If you have normal to dry scalp, then using the scrub once a month is fine. But if you have oily or greasy hair, it is best to apply the homemade scalp scrub two times in a month.

Make it a habit to use a homemade exfoliating scalp scrub as part of your beauty routine. With regular use, your hair will look better than ever!
