Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition that leads to dry skin, itching, scaly patches, blisters, etc. It can be  of many types, such as atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, nummular eczema, seborrheic dermatitis...

Atopic dermatitis is the most common type, which results from an overactive immune system, causing the skin barrier to become dry and itchy. Eczema often manifests in the form of “flare-ups” that could last for days or even weeks.

Symptoms:

  • Dry, inflamed and itchy skin – Such conditions can become severe, especially at night.
  • Scaly patches –  Red to brownish-gray patches, especially on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, upper chest, eyelids, inside the bend of the elbows and knees. They could become thickened or cracked over time.
  • Swelling of skin – Raw, sensitive, and swollen skin from scratching.
  • Oozing or crusting – Small, raised bumps that could leak fluid and crust over when scratched.
