Hazelnut Oil

Hazelnut oilIntroduction
Hazelnut oil is produced from pressing the seeds of Corylus avellana, also known as hazel or hazelnuts. Although it is mainly known as a food ingredient (they are enjoyed as snacks), hazelnut contains several nutrients that enhance skin health and texture. Hazelnuts, in particular, are good sources of protein, vitamin E and B, and a type of mono-unsaturated fat called oleic acid that is thought to help lower cholesterol levels.

Due to its high vitamin E content, hazelnut oil is slow to go rancid, as the antioxidant protection of the vitamin E preserves it, while helping to neutralise damage caused by free radicals. It also contains fatty acids – because of the lipid molecules present in them, hazelnut extract is the ideal emollient for providing moisturising properties.  It works by improving the skin’s ability to retain moisture, thus enhancing the skin’s overall level of hydration and appearance.  Not only is this oil an excellent moisturiser, but it helps to balance oil production too.

  • Hazelnut oil has catechins and tannins that ensure the “oiliness” isn’t harmful – it feels smooth on the skin.
  • It helps to balance natural oils of the skin by regulating production, so chances of breakouts and acne are reduced.
  • It is beneficial for oily skin and minimizing the size of pores.
  • It has loads of natural fats that help moisturize the skin, leaving it soft and plump, while reducing signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.
  • No greasy residue is found as the oil is instantly absorbed into the skin.
  • Wearing natural antioxidants like hazelnut oil can give your skin the extra protection it needs from environmental stressors.
  • Works on all skin types as it is extremely gentle.
  • It gives your skin a total makeover – it looks rejuvenated, youthful and more vibrant.
